Duane C. Schwichtenberg of Lakeland, Florida, went to meet the Lord on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 due to heart failure. He was 88 years old. Born December 9, 1922 in Tulare, South Dakota, Duane moved to Florida in 1946. His wife of 63 years, Lois, and his brother Daryl, precede him in death. Duane is survived by: his loving companion Ginny Fahrenholz, daughter, Diane Fauble and her husband Ray, son, David and his wife Debi, his sister, Doreen Arneson, 8 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 2 great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.
At the age of 72, Duane retired from a career with Joyner Lumber Company that spanned more than 30 years. He served his country as a member of the United States Army, and was a veteran of World War II. Duane was also an active member and servant of St.
Duane was a well-respected, devout, loving Christian. He held a tremendous love for his family and friends and cherished the time they spent together. He enjoyed traveling and watching sunsets on the beach. Duane loved the outdoors- particularly hunting and all sports. After retiring, Duane developed a love of gardening and maintained a beautiful garden full of roses, pineapples and bananas.
