Duane Allen Parker, 73, of Clover Hill, passed away Sunday evening May 24, 2015 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe with his family by his side,
Duane was born September 12, 1941 in Maysville to the late William “Bill” and Lona Gilkison Parker.
Duane was a longtime farmer and part time truck driver, but his passion was his family and grandchildren and helping his fellow neighbors and farmers. He was very active in Farm Aid and during the drought of the late 80’s he helped distributed thousands of bushels of Gerst seed corn to local farms for $2 a bag; this was an accomplishment that he was very proud of. He also opened a family grocery store and helped feed and save families thousands. He was of the Christian faith and had proudly served his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the United States Marine Corps in the Weapons Training Battalion.
Survivors include his wife Glenda Taylor Parker; sons Duane Allen Parker Jr. and James Allen Parker of Clover Hill; daughters Sheila (Andy) Mullins of White Plains VA, Angela (Kevin) Fields of Shelbyville, KY and Natisha (Derrick) Morton of Nicholasville, KY; grandchildren Felicity Parker, Dontae Morton, Lauren Mullins, Ivey Mullins, Owen Fields and Samayia Corde; sister Linda Taylor of Gulf Shores AL;
Duane was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Patti Elliot.
