Duane A. Burleson, 79, residing in Elkhart, passed away Thursday afternoon, Nov. 29, 2012, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, following an extended illness.
He was born on Aug. 23, 1933, in Elkhart, to Wayland and Gladys (Sharkey) Burleson.
In addition to his parents, a brother, Maline Burleson, preceded him in death.
On Oct. 20, 1955, he married the former Thomasine A. Iavagnilio at the rectory at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. They recently celebrated 57 years of marriage.
His wife, Thomasine, survives, as do their sons, Dennis M. Burleson of South Bend, Steven E. Burleson and wife Bekki of Elkhart and Patrick A. Burleson and wife Mary of Etna Green; as well as eight grandchildren; four great-grandsons; and a sister, Sandra Stamm of Bristol.
Duane worked more than 46 years at Miles Laboratories in Elkhart. He was also a player/coach for many of the Miles athletic teams over the years.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was an avid Notre Dame fan. He enjoyed country music, playing golf and bowling.
