Thomas D. Pemrick, M.D.
Troy – Thomas D. Pemrick, M.D. died Thursday, August 7 at Samaritan Hospital after a short Illness.
He was born in Troy on January 6, 1924 to Thomas and Helen Stanton Pemrick.
Thomas graduated from La Salle Institute as the Cadet Colonel of his class in 1941. He went on to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Albany Medical College class of 1947. His general and thoracic surgical training was obtained from Wayne County General Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan.
In 1954 he returned to Troy and began his surgical practice which he continued for 35 years retiring in 1989.
He served as President of the Medical and Dental staff at Samaritan Hospital and as Chief of Surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital. Dr. Pemrick served as a member of the Council of the Medical Society of the State of New York and as President of the Albany Medical College Alumni Association.
Thomas served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard of New York and Michigan.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy and a member of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in the USA.
Dr. Pemrick is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Alice Simpson Pemrick and his three children; Mary Lee Dormandy and her husband, Gary, Donald Paul Pemrick, and James Warren Pemrick and his wife Eileen; and four grandchildren Matthew J., Kelly Lee, and Heather Anne Dormandy, and Thomas Ryan Pemrick. He is also survived by his brothers; James R. and Walter J. Pemrick and was predeceased by a brother, Warren F. Pemrick.
