Dr. Steven Spencer Perry, 54, died at his home with his wife by his side on Monday, January 14, 2019 from complications due to cancer.
Born Feb. 26, 1964 in El Paso, TX, he was raised in Texas, went to college at Southern Methodist University (in Dallas), medical school at Texas Tech University, and pediatrics residency in Houston, at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. While in Houston, he was the chief resident for one of the largest residency programs in the country. Steve moved to Denver and joined Cherry Creek Pediatrics where he has been an owner and physician for 24 years. He served on the Medical Staff Board of Children’s Hospital Colorado and just concluded his Presidency of the Colorado Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He was active in several nonprofit organizations and with immunization issues.
Survivors include his wife Jody Papini Perry, his parents Karl and Patricia Perry of El Paso, TX, brother Ken of Pasadena, CA, sister Polly of El Paso,TX, In laws Dave and Donna Papini of Frederick, CO, brother in laws Jared Papini of Frederick, CO, and Jamie (Nicole) Papini of Cedar Rapids, IA, and three nieces and a nephew.
Steve was dedicated to the healthcare of children. Steve’s work ethic, compassion for others and willingness to listen and give sound advice to his patients are qualities that patients appreciated. He had a wonderful sense of humor that allowed people of all ages to feel comfortable around him and want to engage with him. Whenever a situation got too serious, you could always count on Steve to bring laughter into the mix. He was an amazing husband, son, brother and the best uncle any niece or nephew could ever want. He had a passion for cycling and travel with friends and family. When not working, he and his wife could often be found traveling around the world on their bicycles and enjoying life.
