Dr. Sai Hwan Oh, 72 of Trenton, Ga. a retired medical doctor, died unexpectedly as a result of a car accident on December 23, 2015 in Dawsonville, GA .
Sai is survived by his wife, Kyu Oh; his son, Yong Oh; and daughter Jenny Oh Hatfield.
After graduating with honors from the prestigious Seoul National University’s medical school in 1967, Sai immigrated from South Korea to the U.S. in the mid-1970s. He completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Illinois’ Hospital Medical Center in Chicago, IL. His successful career spanned 36 years as a physiatrist, lecturer and medical director at hospitals in Illinois, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Chattanooga, TN, where he eventually retired from the HealthSouth Chattanooga Rehabilitation Center in 2011. Sai also founded the OM Integrative Medicine Center in Chattanooga where he practiced acupuncture for over a decade.
Sai was a devoted husband and father to his family, but he was also a talented Renaissance man. Gifted in the arts, he was deeply passionate about drawing and painting. He painted beautiful Chinese-style watercolors in his spare time – in the form of large-scale landscapes — and participated in several exhibits over the years. Sai also dabbled in woodworking, instrument making and many other artistic hobbies. He also adored classical music, played tennis and golf, enjoyed hiking and camping, and especially loved traveling.
