Dr. Robert “Bobby” W. Sims, age 69, of Valley, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016 at his mother’s home surrounded by his family. 

Dr. Sims was born on October 11, 1946 in Roanoke, Alabama to the late William Clifford Sims and Edna Satterwhite Sims.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas “Eddie” Sims.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lanett.

Dr. Sims was very devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren.  He loved dentistry and helping others in any way possible.  He was a Boy Scout Leader and had a great sense of humor.  Dr. Sims was a United States Army Veteran who served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, platoon leader, and first Captain.  He later served in the dental detachment at Fort Benning, GA. While serving our country, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Air medal.

He is survived by his children, Reid (Jane) Sims, Chelsea, AL., Lauren (Jason) Sims Grider, Madison, AL., Michael (Erin) Sims, Acworth, GA.; grandchildren, Camilla Sims, Blakely Sims, and two expected later this year; brothers, William C. (Sherry) Sims, Jr., Richard T. (Donna) Sims, Tony L. (Stacy) Sims; sisters, Linda S. Cordell, Wanda S. (William) Martin, Donna S. Sims, and Nancy S. (Billy) Bramlett; many nieces and nephews.
