Rockledge, Fl – Dr. Robert A. “Bob” Anderson, 92, passed away on July 22, 2019 in Rockledge, Fl.
Preceded in death was his wife, Charlotte Thomas Anderson married for 38 years, Father, Jerome W. Anderson and Mother, Mae Aeiker Anderson, Sisters, Helen Mitchell and Maxine Roberts, Brothers, J.W. “Bud” Anderson, Attorney John G. Anderson and Twin brother William P. Anderson. Surviving is a brother Eugene Glenn Anderson of Hurricane, W.Va.
He is survived by his 3 children son Attorney Robert T. Anderson (Brenda) of Rockledge, Fl, son Stephen P. Anderson, Retired College Professor of Lake City, Fl, daughter Nancy A. Hanshaw of Rockledge, Fl. He has 5 Grandchildren, Stephanie McCook (Andy), Jennifer Anderson, Lisa Anderson and Tyler A. Hanshaw (Amanda), and Kathryn Gravenstein (Nik) and 7 Great Grandchildren. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much and He leaves his Legacy to all of them.
Born on July 22, 1927 and was raised on a small farm in Winfield, W.Va. Graduated from Winfield High School in 1945 and played football from 1941 to 1944. He then enrolled on a football scholarship at Duke University, Durham, NC and played football in 1945 and 1947. He was drafted in the U.S.
He was a Football Coach/Teacher at Winfield High School from 1951 to 1955. His 1952 Football Team played in the W.Va Championship game. Total Football record at WHS 32-7-1. The season of 1955 to 1956 he was Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Nitro High School in Nitro, W. Va. Total 6 year record 47-13-1. He was the Principal of Winfield High School from 1957 to 1960. He was hired to serve as Assistant Principal at Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, W.Va from 1960-1962.
He moved his family to Rockledge, Fl in 1962 and has resided there for 57 years. He was Assistant Principal at Cocoa High School 1962-1964, and Principal at Cocoa High School from 1964-1966. He then was appointed as Brevard County Public School Assistant Superintendent of Maintance, Transportation and Operations in 1966-1968. In 1968 he was hired at Brevard Junior College as Director of Admissions.
His Honors he has received are many but here are few to share, Marshall University Distinguish Alumni Award, 1983.
Also, the City of Rockledge dedicated a 80 acre Recreational and Dog Park to Honor Dr. Robert A. Anderson located on Pluckebaum Road and Clearlake Drive.
Dr Robert A. Anderson was a loving husband and father and grandfather who dedicated his time to his family, City, and County and the Education System here in Florida.
Dr. Anderson is a diehard FSU football fan since 1971 when his oldest son Bob received a football scholarship to play football at FSU. He has been going to the FSU home games for 44 years.
