Dr. Lyman Robert Tieman Jr., 68, of Peru, formerly of Dixon, passed away Wednesday, August 07, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Dr. Tieman was born November 15, 1950 in Chicago to Lyman Robert and Shirley (Boudreau) Tieman. He married Barbara Garrey on September 23, 1978 in Chicago.
Dr. Tieman was a graduate of Oak Lawn High School, MacMurray College and Loyola University School of Medicine. He was a physician for 35 years, beginning his career at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. He then moved to Dixon to become the Unit Director of the Emergency Room at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital and helped to develop the EMS system. He later transitioned to internal medicine at Illinois Valley Community Hospital after moving to Peru. He was a member of the American Medical Association, an excellent diagnostician and cared deeply for his patients.
He was a devoted husband, proud father, enjoyed being a grandfather and was an avid reader. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; three children, Lyman Robert (Meaghan McGinnis) Tieman III of Champaign and Maribeth (Nathan) Sandrock and Michael (Jessica Chavez) Tieman both of Dixon; three grandchildren, Lorenzo, Paxton and Everleigh; his father, Lyman Robert Tieman Sr.; two brothers, Ken (Amedee) and Gary (Suzy) Tieman both of Plainfield and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, David Tieman.
