Dr. James H. Lane “Pastor Lane”
Pastor Lane, born in 1924 in McKenzie, TN, was the son of Leon and Vera Lane. He was dedicated to serving God and his country. In doing so, he was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his service in the US Army in WWII, serving in every major battle under General George Patton. He married the love of his life, Helen Kindle on February 16, 1946, just months after he returned from the war the previous October, they were married for 71 years.
He is predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Stokes (nee Lane), wife Helen (nee Kindle), and grandson Ryan. He is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, a niece & nephew, as well as countless extended family members and members of the community who considered him one of their own.
Pastor Lane passed away peacefully at home after having had a short hospital stay due to a blood clot rupture. Many, many people call him “dad”, pastor, counselor, or friend. His impact on the world and humanity is that of a hero. His care for the world, through the love of God, God’s grace, and salvation, was for all. His service was for people, God’s people, regardless of race, religion, or creed. His legacy will live on for generations because of the love, kindness, wisdom, and ministry he bestowed upon others.
