Dr. Chandler died at his home in Salado, Friday, June 18, 2010. Dr. Chandler was born June 29, 1931 in Fargo, North Dakota the son of James B. and Hazel Chandler. He graduated from Balboa High School in San Francisco, California and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in Athens.

He was a veteran of the United States Army where he was an operating room specialist during the Korean Conflict. He received his master’s degree from the University of North Carolina and his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Dr. Chandler served his residency at Scott and White Hospital where he continued to serve the central Texas community for 48 years in gastroenterology internal medicine.

Dr. Chandler was a member of the American Medical Association, American Gastroenterologists Association and American College of Gastroenterology. Survivors include his wife Barbara Chandler of Salado; children Allison Supancic of Austin, James B. (Chan) Chandler, III of Austin, Sebring Chandler-Finch of Austin, Kimberly Chandler Guerra of Los Angeles, Dawn Chandler Binon of Columbus, Ohio and Shawn Victor Chandler of Morgan’s Point Resort. Brother Charles E. Chandler of Austin. 12 grandchildren and five great grandchild. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
