Ivor S. Mitchell, Ph.D., Professor of Marketing, passed away in Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday, June 25, 2017.
Dr. Mitchell was born on September 10, 1940, in Guyana and migrated to the United States to further his education. He attended the University of Oregon where he received a B.S. in Economics and an M.B.A. in Marketing. He subsequently earned his Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Georgia.
Dr. Mitchell served as an Associate Professor at Jackson State University and at Florida State University before accepting the Christine McEachern Smith Chair as Distinguished Professor of Marketing and International Business at Clark Atlanta University in 1984. Dr. Mitchell was also awarded Fulbright Fellowships to the University of Benin in Nigeria, and to the University of Guyana. He served as an associate professor at Clark Atlanta University until his passing.
