He was a fellow of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedics, a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, and a member of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery.
Don belonged to the Illinois Chiropractic Society. Don loved his adopted home town of Ottawa, IL. Moving here in early 1978, he immediately became involved with the Ottawa Noon Rotary – serving in many different capacities, one being a past President. He believed very strongly in creating a River Front that would be a place for all to enjoy and was instrumental in initiating the Ottawa River Walk Project. Don was a member of the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce serving on many different committees throughout his 41 years in Ottawa. Don served on the Ottawa Elementary School Board Member after the flooding and closing of the Central Grade. He again saw a need to help with the behind the scenes of making sure a new Central Middle School would be constructed. Don was a proud 50 year Scottish Rite Mason, and Occidental Lodge #40, A.F.A.M.
His motto was you need to leave things better than you found them. More than this Don, was dedicated to helping his patients who became part of his family. That was the things he missed most about retiring a few years ago, his beloved patients. Don loved his family, friends and dedicated his life to the service of his community and patients. Don is survived by his wife, Pam Mammano and their sons Donald (Marisa) and Danny (Jessica). Don had three grandchildren, Caroline (11), Kellen (5) and Sierra (2) and his siblings Howard Mammano and Marcia Matencheck. Don also has a large extended family, consisting of many sister/brother-in-laws, nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews.
