HAVERHILL – Dr. Bruce R. Franz, 64, longtime Haverhill resident and retired dentist, passed away on Wednesday morning, October 16, 2019 in Boston surrounded by his family.

Bruce was born in Boston and raised in Andover, attending Andover schools. He graduated from Merrimack College with a Bachelor’s Degree and continued his education at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine completing the program and graduating as a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry. He worked in a career he enjoyed as a dentist in Haverhill for over 30 years until his retirement. His patients care and well-being meant a lot to him, and is something that gave him great satisfaction throughout his career.

His activities included traveling extensively on his Harley Davidson with his wife Jenn, football, ballroom dancing and volunteering with Emmaus House. He was a passionate cook, preparing meals for his family to enjoy. Most of all he loved his family greatly. He cared for his brother John for many years and during retirement took the role of a loving Grandpa, helping with his grandchildren. Bruce was a great man that enjoyed life and family and will be deeply missed.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife Jennifer Franz; cherished children, Derek Franz and wife Ashley and Briana Whalen and husband Matthew; adored grandchildren, Cameron and Ryan Franz, Ruby Whalen and two more on the way; siblings, Lesley Helff and husband John, Scott Franz and wife Elizabeth and John Franz; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, close friends and his special buddy, his Bernese Mountain dog Harley.
