Dr. Andrew James Ventre, 79, of Huntsville, passed away on October 18, 2020.

Andrew was born in Scotch Plains New Jersey to Louis and Nina Ventre on January 18, 1941.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from New York University in 1964 and both a master’s and Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) in 1971 and 1976, respectively.   Andrew married his wife Betty Carolyn Hyde on December 26, 1965. 

Andrew had a long career in the aerospace and defense industry.  He was employed at Brown Engineering, CSC and Boeing in Huntsville.  Andrew worked on the manned space program and later numerous defense programs.  Andrew formed his own engineering consulting company, Computrol, providing expert engineering analysis for several defense programs until his death.  Andrew also served as a guest lecturer in the UAH engineering department.

 

Andrew is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Nina.

Andrew is survived by his wife Betty of Huntsville; brother Louis (Ginger) Ventre of Alexandria Virginia; sister Nina (Eddie) Robinson of Bayville New Jersey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
