Doyle Scothern
BRIGHAM CITY – Doyle Scothern passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at Ogden Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Doyle was born July 13, 1933 in Bear River City a son of Ruby Young and Joseph William Scothern.
He graduated from Box Elder High School after which he joined the Navy and became a Radioman.
Doyle served his country in the Navy during the Korean War, stationed at Pearl Harbor from 1952 to 1956 then honorably discharged in 1960.
He married his sweetheart Ada Lynne Nelson on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1958 they were later seal in the Logan LDS Temple on August 20, 1963. They built a life in Brigham City, raised five sons. Doyle retired from Thiokol (ATK) as an Engineer and worked in the test area.
Doyle was an active member of the Church during which he held many callings, where he was Ward Clerk for several Bishops over 24 years.
He enjoyed hunting, was an avid fisherman and he loved going camping with his family. He could frequently be found tending his grandkids and great-grandkids. He enjoyed reading and making airplanes out of aluminum cans.
Surviving are his wife Ada Lynne Scothern, Brigham City; children: David (Dawn) Scothern, Willard; Rodney Scothern, Brigham City; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents: Joe and Ruby sons: Thayne, Evan, and Terry.
