Doyle Dean Groesbeck, age 81, passed away in his home in Anchorage, Alaska on July 17, 2021 after battling a long illness.
Doyle was born on December 03, 1939 in Wallace, Idaho to Woods Albert and Madge Greco Groesbeck, the third of eight children born during this marriage. Woods and second wife, Thelma, added a son and two daughters giving Doyle a total of 5 brothers and 5 sisters. He is survived by five sisters and three brothers.
Doyle and Lois Estrella Sweat were married July 29, 1960 in Bountiful, Utah. Together Doyle and Lois had four children: Sandra Ellen, born January 25, 1961 in Centerville, Utah, Tammy Kay, born September 18, 1963 in Burley, Idaho, Dennis Dean, born August 21, 1964 in Burley, Idaho and Albert Lewis, born January 7, 1966 in Salmon, Idaho. Doyle and Lois lost their eldest child, Sandra Ellen [Groesbeck] Hoover, to cancer at the young age of 23.
Doyle remarried on September 16, 1973 to Vickie Mae Montgomery Chapman. Vickie had a daughter, Bonnie Lee Chapman born March 3, 1970 from a previous marriage. Doyle and Vickie had two boys, Todd Wade born May 13, 1976 and Ryan Neil born January 16, 1977. This family relocated to Anchorage, Alaska during the summer of 1989.
During Doyle’s tenure as a painter in Alaska, he was provided multiple opportunities to work remotely for several projects located in different areas of Alaska. He spent time on Adak, Kodiak and Shemya Islands, in Utqiagvik (formerly Barrow) and various hubs / villages in Alaska’s Northwest, Southwest, and South Central regions. Doyle loved being outdoors, he camped, fished, hunted, and explored as often as he could.
Doyle was preceded in death by his father Woods Groesbeck, mother Madge Groesbeck, brothers Don and Wayne, daughter Sandra E. [Groesbeck] Hoover, wife Vickie M. Groesbeck, and ex-wife Lois [Sweat] Groesbeck.
Doyle’s survivors include brothers Lee and Ken Groesbeck; sisters Janet Calkins, Helen Gonion, and Debbie Taylor; half-brother Larry Groesbeck, half-sisters Wanda Petersen, and Terry Groesbeck; sons Dennis, Lewis, Todd, and Ryan Groesbeck; daughter Tammy Kay Groesbeck and step-daughter Bonnie Chapman; as well as 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Doyle lived his adult life a quiet and gentle man, but always willing to help another in any way he could. He gave of himself selflessly to others who needed a helping hand. Although Doyle left his body and is no longer physically with us, he will forever live in the hearts of his family and friends.
