Douglas W. Gunter, 61, of Centralia, went to be with His Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 17, 2019. He was born on August 5, 1958 in Elgin, the son of Ward Gunter and Gerre (Huffstutler) Gunter Arney and husband Robert “Bob” Arney. He married Bellessa “Helfin” Henson on July 25, 2014 and she survives in Centralia.
In addition to his mother: Gerre Arney of Centralia and his wife: Bellessa Gunter of Centralia, he is also survived by six children: daughter: Angel Gunter of Centralia, step-son: Johnathon Merritt of Iuka, step-daughter: April Merritt of Centralia, son: Douglas W. Gunter, Jr. and wife Becca of Junction City, sons: Dustin and Dakota Gunter of Centralia; numerous grandchildren; a sister: Rita Sponseller and husband Bill of Centralia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Ward Gunter and Stepfather: Robert “Bob” Arney, and a sister: Cheryl Wright.
Doug was a member of The Rock Church in Centralia, where he volunteered in the Praise and Worship Team. He enjoyed playing and listening to music, keeping up with his Facebook friends and fishing. While he was ill, he achieved his Ham Radio License. Doug was a people person who never meet a stranger.
