Douglas Wayne Fisher II, 40, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Elkhart, passed away July 11 following a silent heart attack in Fort Wayne.
He was born Oct. 15, 1974, in Elkhart, to Douglas W. Fisher I and Pamela S. (Rinehart) Fisher-Deitch.
In addition to his parents, other survivors include his paternal brothers, Christopher Fisher of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Brandon Wright and Dustin Lowery, both of Elkhart; paternal sister Melody Fisher of Elkhart; maternal brothers Alex Deitch and Sean Conches, both of Elkhart; maternal sister Alyssa (Ryan) Hooley of Elkhart; maternal grandmother Helen Rinehart of Elkhart; godmother Tammy Rosenberry of Elkhart; paternal cousins Jami Marie Fisher of Bluffton, S.C., and Cainen Talley-Fisher of Elkhart; paternal uncles Jamie (Tracy) Fisher and Dave Fisher, both of Elkhart; and paternal aunt Vicki Talley of Elkhart.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Scott Alan Fisher; paternal grandparents Charles and Ella Fisher; maternal grandfather John Joseph Rinehart; paternal uncles Charles A. Fisher and Jeffrey Fisher; and his godfather, James Kapsa.
Doug was recently employed as a robotic welder at Shambaugh & Son LP in Fort Wayne.
Affectionately known as “Leroy” by his grandmother, Helen, Doug loved Notre Dame football, the Chicago Cubs, the Indianapolis Colts, the Chicago Bears, NASCAR and, most importantly, his family and friends. He enjoyed posting things on Facebook to keep his friends waiting for the next post.
In the last two years of his life he worked on his sobriety, which began Sept.7, 2013. He helped family and friends achieve the same goals that have led to many testimonies that will be shared at his celebration of life service.
Music was Doug’s love, so we will celebrate him with several songs. Dougie was a musician that was self-taught on every instrument he played. He became a song writer, author, story teller and artist.
