It is with profound sadness that the family of Douglas S. Smith, BG (Ret) US Army, announces his peaceful passing on April 8, 2022, at the age of 93, surrounded by family.
Doug is predeceased by his parents, Sydney and Dora; a son, Michael; and his sister, Joyce.
He is survived by his wife Karen, his children Martha (Gary), Tom (Jill), Sue (Bucky), Brian (Tracey), and Steve (Cynthia). He leaves eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Doug spent thirty-seven years in the United States Army, rising to the rank of Brigadier General.
The family wishes to thank the staff of VITAS Hospice for their care and compassion.
