Douglas Jaye Hall passed away in Rupert, Idaho on October 30, 2021, at the age of 84.
Doug was born in Emmett Idaho on May 4, 1937. He was the second of four children born to Alvin Henry Hall and Hazel Caroline Landon.
Doug was raised in the View and Unity area. After graduating from Burley High School, Doug enlisted in the Army-serving as a clerk in Taiwan.
In December of 1958, Doug married Karen Matthews and they were blessed with four daughters – Laurie, Abby, Marta Sue, and Loma, who joined the family in 1986. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Doug was a jack of all trades and stranger to none. He could do anything. He worked for Garrets and Matthews Brothers learning farming, Ranching and the dairy business. He also drove truck for a few years.
In 1972, Doug and Karen decided on a new adventure, taking them to Pocatello where Karen worked as a nurse while Doug went to trade school learning the upholstery business. In 1974 they settled in Rupert, Idaho where he started Hall’s Custom Upholstery, and he resided there until his death.
On November 4, 2000, Karen passed away in a tragic car accident leaving Doug heartbroken. Doug then met a new love and married Kathy Murphy in February 2002 bringing to this union three daughters and two sons – Bobbi Jo, Zack, Tabitha, Jim, and Olive. Doug loved Kathi’s children and always wanted the best for them.
Doug was involved in Scouts for approximately forty years serving as a scout leader, merit badge counselor, attended wood badge and received his Silver Beaver award.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, and wife Karen. He is survived by his wife Kathi and children: Laurie (Denis) Kowitz, Abby (Steve) Whitesides, Marta (Terry) Dawson, Loma (Brad) Ling, Bobbi Jo (Rudy) Padilla, Zach & Brittney Murphy, Tabitha Bingham and Jeremy Powell, Jim Murphy, Olive Norris, brothers Alvin Hall, Rusty Hall and Gary Hall. He is also survived by thirty grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren.
