Douglas J. Mulhaupt, 64, of Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at IU Health Arnett Hospital. He was born July 13, 1957, in Great Falls, Montana, to Dorothy (Zollinger) Mulhaupt of Lafayette and the late James F. Mulhaupt.

Doug graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1975 and Purdue University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science. On May 19, 1979, he married Cynthia D. Mennen in Lafayette and she survives.

Doug was the 4th generation President of Mulhaupts. He was a member of Distributor’s Council, Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, Breakfast Optimist Club, and was an alumni of Leadership Lafayette.  He also served on the boards of Meals on Wheels, SFLECC, Sagamore Chapter of Pheasants Forever (past President), and Downtown Business Center (past President).  Doug was awarded the Marquis of Lafayette in 2002.

Doug was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He cherished time spent with his family and friends.  He was an avid hunter, taking hunting trips around the world. Doug was one of a kind, finding his way into conversations even when he was not present. He made an impact on all those he encountered.  Doug lived life everyday like it was his last.  If you asked him, he would tell you, “that’s right, I am a weapon system.”

Surviving are his wife, mother, and children Jessica A. Mulhaupt-Wolf and Nicholas J. (Ashley) Mulhaupt, all of Lafayette, and grandchildren Kennedy, Madison, Ava, and Remington.

Also surviving are his sisters Lorrie (Joe) Tack of Villa Park, CA, and Cheryl (Joe) Conti of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
