Doug Gherardini, 65, of Wamac, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born August 30, 1953 in Centralia, son of Dwight Gherardini and Rebecca Anna (Veltman) Gherardini. In additition to his mother, Rebecca “Becky” Anna Gherardini of Wamac, he is also survived by two children: Rebecca Anne Gherardini and fiance Austin Ramsey of Centralia and Drew Gherardini of Centralia; two brothers: Steve Gherardini and wife Liz of Collinsville and Tony Gherardini of Centralia; three nieces: Stephanie, Jill and Pana; a nephew: Joel; an uncle: Dwain Gherardini of Hoffman; an aunt: Jackie Byars of Centralia; numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father: Dwight Gherardini on February 23, 2015 and an uncle: Louie Byars.
Doug worked at Walgreens Distribution Center in Mt. Vernon for 13 years and retired in 2018. He then started working at McGuires in August of 2018.
Doug enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He also enjoyed playing softball and golf. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan.
Doug was a hard worker, high spirited and loved spending time with his family and friends.
