Douglas Frank Nelson was born on April 7, 1942, in Grand Island, Nebraska, to Frank and Maxine Nelson. He passed away on July 7, 2022. He was the eldest of two children.
After graduating from Loveland High School in Colorado, Doug joined the U.S. Navy, where he had the opportunity to serve on an aircraft carrier, fly in small fighter planes, and spend time in Southeast Asia. After serving four years, he began a 38-year career as an electronics technician with US West and settled in Pueblo, CO.
During his lifetime, Doug was fortunate to love two women. He was married for 30 years to Judy Tomlinson and had two children, a daughter, Kerry, and a son, Scott. He then married Frankie Austin, and they were together for nearly 20 years when he passed. During their marriage, they relocated from Pueblo to Canon City, CO, where they resided for the remainder of his life.
Doug was the oldest living member of Pueblo Masonic Lodge #17 A.F. & A.M., and he was proud to have served as Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and active in the local Masonic Lodges in Canon City and nearby communities. Doug was blessed with a rich and varied life, and he had a variety of interests.
Doug is survived by his wife, Frankie; his former wife, Judy; his daughter, Kerry; and his son, Scott (Daisy).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Maxine Nelson, and his brother, Robert Nelson.
He is greatly missed, and the family thanks you for your comfort and prayers.
