Douglas Fleet Herrin, Sr., was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 15, 2022 at the age of 74. A beloved husband and father, a valued man to many. He entered this world on October 8, 1947, born to Ina and William “Willie” Herrin, in Lecompte, LA. A graduate of LSU, he faithfully served his country in the United States Army and was a long-time member of St.

Doug’s favorite place to be was right next to his beautiful wife, Connie – on the back patio with family or nestled on the swing at the camp, catching the warm evening breeze from the Gulf. To know Doug was to know his love for fishing, his love for his wife, and his love for dessert at the end of every meal. He taught us that an extra buttered biscuit served as the first dessert and that the true dessert came after. To know Doug, is to know that a perfect day spent was on the waters of Grande Isle, limiting out on Specks and Reds.

A gentle man with a quiet chuckle and gentle smile, Doug carried his love for his family on his broad shoulders. He was the epitome of a hard working father, husband and grandfather. He carried the truth that hard work and determination can carry you much further than your body ever could.

Douglas is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Connie Wilson Herrin; daughters, Shannon Herrin Lee, Candace Reneé Herrin, and Michaelyn Herrin Berman (Percy); 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Ann Jenkins; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Douglas is preceded in death by his father, William “Willie” Herrin; mother, Ina Richerson Herrin, son, Douglas “Beau” Fleet Herrin, II; brother, Richard Jerrell “Jerry” Herrin; and sister, Beverly Fay Herrin O’Quinn.
