About Our Doug….
Douglas E. Holly of Nampa, Idaho went to sleep and peacefully left this world at the age of 61 on March 25th, 2022. Although the timing of his passing has left his family and countless others in shock and sorrow, Doug passed in a manner he and most in this world hope for. Now, he is in the company of our Lord and Savior and finally reunited with his own father whom he has continued to dearly miss since he was a 7-year-old boy.
Douglas E. Holly made his triumphal and glorious entry into this world on a sizzling hot summer day of 114 degrees on July 8th, 1960. “Unbearable and miserable” were the words his mother used to describe the context of his arrival. Born to Douglas Brooks & Wilma Ruth Holly, Doug was raised in his hometown of Nampa and attended Roosevelt Elementary until the passing of his own father at age 36. At age 10, his mother remarried William Frederick Wynia and moved the family to Kuna where he attended 5th – 9th grade. He was blessed to attend 10th grade through his graduation at Nampa Christian High School where he and his classmates became lifelong friends.
Hardship and trials began molding him at a young age which formed him into the fantastic man he became clear to his final day on this earth. By age 17, Doug began training rigorously in the Martial Arts and made a name for himself across the state of Idaho. Many associate Doug with his Karate career and success against competitors. Karate was a haven for Doug as he built confidence and healed from hardships, including the ending of an early marriage that was short lived. However, this paved the way for Doug to meet the Love of His Life in 1986 at a singles’ get together called The Cereal Bowl. As true 20-somethings without a penny to their name, a choice cereal was brought to this romantic event. Doug spotted this cute little brunette serving herself a portion of Froot Loops and slid in with the knee weakening one-liner of “Good choice” …. the start of 35 years together.
Doug married his Lifelong Love, Marilyn Jeanette Laeger, on December 20th, 1986, and enjoyed several years of adventures and travel before settling down and growing their family with a daughter, Aubrielle Jeanette, and a son Douglas Brooks, who would mold their parental skills and bring indescribable joy and pride for years to come.
Doug’s career path brought him into the footsteps of his own father when he began his career in the construction and floor covering industries under various companies. No matter the hardship, he did whatever it took to provide for his family. Doug is best remembered for his 24 year tenure at Nampa Floors and Interiors. Many friends and memories were made with its’ owner, Roger Wilson, and countless other fellow colleagues. Weeks often ended with group hunting and fishing trips which included sons and daughters, making the company more like a great big family with whom many memories, jokes, stories, and laughter are shared.
Doug ended his 24-year career at Nampa Floors and moved with his wife to Arizona in 2017. There they were co-employed for 4 years as General Property Managers where they also built enduring friendships with colleagues and residents alike. Their daughter established her career and community in Idaho and their son moved off to Europe to further pursue his dreams of building an international career.
