Douglas Allen Hinderliter, “Doug” of Melbourne Florida, breathed his last breath on August 15 2021, at the age of 57. He was born on May 8 1964 in Indiana Pennsylvania, the middle child of Frank Kenneth and Joan Ann (McNutt) Hinderliter.

Doug had many passions, but without a doubt his favorite pastime was laughing, loudly, at himself, others, and the world around him. One look at his Facebook page told you all you needed to know about his humor. More than that, he loved to make others laugh and reveled in the response. He never met a stranger, and took in stray animals and people, sometimes they were both.

Doug loved his family, both immediate and extended. He lived for his children, and bragged about them often. He hugged hard and kissed like he meant it. He was a devoted son to his parents, and only occasionally irritated his brothers.

Doug was a gifted athlete who started on both offense and defense as a senior for his conference championship high school football team in Berwick Pennsylvania. After graduation in the summer of 1982 he was selected to play in the 25th Big 33 Football Classic all star game where he caught two touchdown passes. He then went on to play football on a scholarship at the University of Connecticut. He was also an avid and proficient golfer, just like his dad, but had no patience for anyone who couldn’t play the game, unless there were skins at risk.

Doug enlisted in the U.S.

Doug’s passing leaves a massive hole in the lives of his family and friends that cannot be filled, except through our shared memories of Doug.

Doug is survived by his wife Barbara Ann Hinderliter, children Michele, Ryan and Kayla, brothers Ken Hinderliter and wife Barb, Mark Hinderliter and wife Sophia. Father-in-law Benny Wilkson and Mother-in-law Paula Wilkson, sister-in-law Sheril and husband Scott Jalm, brother-in-law Stephen Wilkson, Aunt Judith and Robert Burns, and a host of adoring cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends.
