Douglas Dennis DeGree, beloved son of Milton and Fern DeGree, passed away July 6th, 2021, in Denver, Colorado. He was born in Minot, North Dakota, June 20th, 1948. He graduated from Minot State University with a degree in Art Education and soon after made his home in Denver. Doug married Sue Ellen Berkmeyer at Flagstaff Mountain Amphitheater on June 18th, 1988. They had a long and happy and fun relationship together.
Doug had a strong sense of values he learned growing up in North Dakota. He was a gentleman and lived his life with honesty, integrity, and generosity. He was a sincere friend to many, and he especially valued old friendships. Doug shared stories, discussed events of the day, and loved having a laugh with family and friends. He spent his career in the energy industry at Amax Coal, Terra Resources, Sabine, Ampolex, Carbon Energy and Anadarko. He was an avid sports fan especially football and baseball and faithfully followed the home teams, Broncos and Rockies.
Doug loved his home and Colorado very much but when coaxed by his wife, they enjoyed many travel adventures together.
Doug loved music including Rock, the Blues, and Country. He liked Tim McGraw’s song, “Humble and Kind.” He thought the song title and words were good to live by. Doug is survived by his wife, Sue Ellen, sisters Bev Walter, Peculiar, MO and Shellee Fuss (Rod), Monticello, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Godspeed Douglas and may you stay forever young.
