He graduated from Carroll High School in 1977. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army.
Douglas is survived by two sisters, Cindy Ringler and Connie (Archie) Zehr; three brothers, Clifford (Jeanette) Crance, Christopher (Jackie) Crance and Harry Crance.
