Douglas Ray Ponder was born on May 14, 1938 to Albert Ransom and Doris McCartney Ponder at home west of Jottomtown, east of Archibald, La, A twin brother was also born, Billy Fay. Billy was too little to continue his life’s journey and died 3 days later. Doug had 4 other siblings, Willie Boyer, Joy “Pretter” Storey, Johnny Lee and Jimmy Dee.
Doug married his wife, Frances Marie Traxler on February 27, 1959.
