Dorothy June Whitt King, 83, of Troutman, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, June 7, 2013.
She was born on January 20, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Leon and Edna Whitt but lived most of her life in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband of 62 years.
Having a Bachelor of Science degree in Historic Preservation, she served as a Park Naturalist at Rocky Mountain National Park, LBJ Ranch in Texas, The Hermitage in Nashville, and many others.
Dorothy’s life was centered around her family and church. She loved to share Christ’s love to everyone around her.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Harold King; daughter, Lisa Carol (Bill) Adcox; son, Robert Michael (Vicki) King; daughter in law, Robin King; sisters, Veda Malone and Phyllis (Bob) Coble; brother, George (Laura) Whitt; six grandchildren, Ashley King (Greg) Allen, Michael Morgan King, Katelyn Elisabeth Adcox, Christopher Blaine (Amanda) King, Hannah Faith Adcox, and Zachery Davis King; and six great grandchildren, Cody Allen, Ashlyn Makaila Falcon, Kinslea Cole Allen, Riley King, Jocelyn Elisabeth Hembree and Jozie Mae King.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Blaine King; sister, Regina Washer; brother, David Leon Whitt; and grandchild, Kresta Leigh Adcox.
