Dorothy Thomas Smith Byers Dorothy (Dot) Thomas Smith Byers, age 91, died peacefully at Canterbury Court on November 25, 2016. She was born in Newnan, Georgia, the fifth of 5 daughters born to Robert Whitner Thomas and Alice Hobbs Thomas.
She was a graduate of The North Avenue Presbyterian School (now Westminster Schools), the Draughons’ School of Commerce and attended Georgia State University. She worked for 22 years at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell, and Co. (now KPMG).
She will be greatly remembered for her love of family, her beauty and her grace. She is predeceased by her husband and the love of her life Ken Byers, Sr. and her beloved grandson James Cardwell Kincaid, Jr.
She is survived by her two daughters Glenn Smith Kincaid (Jim) and Cherie Smith Van Winkle (Ed), both of Atlanta.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Allyson Kincaid Brand (Alex), Whitner Thomas Kincaid (Marilyn), Courtney Van Winkle McEver (Taylor), Edward Van Winkle IV, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her stepsons Ken Byers, Jr., Brook Byers, Tom Byers and families.
