Dorothy T. Vogel, 93, of Boerne, TX, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio with her family by her side.
Dorothy was born on July 26, 1925, in Reading, PA, to Chester J. and Elsie (Price) Warfel. She graduated from Reading Catholic High School in 1943, and worked in Reading until she met and married William Vogel in 1946. They moved to the suburbs where they raised their young family until 1986.
Dorothy loved to dance all of her life, from doing the jitterbug, to square dancing, and boot scooting at the Kronkosky Senior Center. Some of the most enjoyable times of her life included camping with the family, and later, travelling cross country with William in their van, stopping at many state and national parks. She also travelled to Europe twice. In her later years, she spent many happy hours socializing and playing cards with her friends at the Kronkosky Senior Center. She was an intelligent, forward thinking woman with a deep inner strength that sustained her throughout her life. Dorothy was a generous, kind person who was the heart of our family.
Dorothy lived a rich, full life. She loved and was loved dearly by friends and family, and will be missed by all. We are comforted by knowing that she is reunited with her husband and son by her side.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly Vogel and Susan Vogel; her son, William J. Vogel, III, (Laura); her grandson, William Christopher; her nieces, Carol Snyder and Joan Yoder; her nephews, James Braun, Larry Warfel, and Thomas Impink; and many great nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 63 years, William J. Vogel, Jr.; her son, David C. Vogel; her parents, Chester and Elsie Warfel; her sisters, Margaret, Helen, Eleanor, Catherine, and Marie; and her brother, Wilbur.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all of Dorothy’s friends and neighbors who were devoted supporters through happy as well as rough times; the doctors, nurses, and staff at Methodist Hospital Neuro ICU and CVICU; and the staff and caregivers of Home Instead Senior Care of Boerne.
