Dorothy Snider, 98, of Spirit Lake, mother of Connie Jackson, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Hawkeye Care Center in Spirit Lake. She was born into a family of nine siblings in Sanborn, Iowa on October 7, 1918. She and Dad, Lester, were married in 1941 and spent the next seventy-five years together. They lived in Hartley for several years until moving to Florida in 1961. When it came time to retire, they returned to Iowa and lived in Spirit Lake for the past thirty years enjoying get-together with siblings and family. She loved to cook, read and crochet and was always busy hardly ever sitting down. She loved walking across the street to the library to check out her latest reads. She was the center of our family. She is survived by her three daughters, Sue Townsend (Roy) of Urbandale, Iowa, Connie Jackson (Jim) of West Okoboji and Kristie Peck (Jim) of La Luz, New Mexico. She doted on her 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Bob DeYoung of California and Glen DeYoung of Arizona. Our thanks and appreciation go out to Hawkeye Nursing Home, Hospice Care and Lakes Regional Health Care for their wonderful care of our Mom. Along with our sorrow of losing our dear Mother is that she took her recipe of pigs-in-a-blanket with her. Dottie’s Diner is closed.
