Obituary for Dorothy R. Rosenberg February 7th 1942 – April 9th 2020 Dorothy Rosenberg passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2019 in Toms River, NJ. Dorothy was born in Plainfield, NJ, and lived in North Plainfield and the Manasquan area. Dorothy went to school in North Plainfield, and later studied Education at Paterson State University in Wayne, NJ. Dorothy enjoyed teaching children and began her career teaching several grades at the same time at a one room schoolhouse in North Jersey.
She later taught kindergarten in both Point Pleasant and Manasquan. Dorothy was an active member of Girl Scouts, Campfire Girls and a member of the Grand Avenue Presbyterian Church and Masonic Lodge in Plainfield. Dorothy enjoyed many outdoor activities and sports including teaching family members how to dance, ice skating, skiing, bike riding, tennis, and as a Baton Twirler in High School. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with family and vacationing at the beaches in the Lavallette and Manasquan area, walking the boardwalk and playing games, swimming, sailing, and boating along the Jersey shore.
Her many interests and hobbies included cooking and baking desserts, travelling the East coast to the Carolinas and Florida, Europe, the Canary Islands and Africa. Dorothy enjoyed flowers and plants, wildlife and nature including birds, and the company of cats and dogs. Dorothy is predeceased by her parents Edward and Marion Scheer, son Lawrence Jr, and survived by her son Steven and daughter Kathryn, brothers Edward and Norman, sister-in-law Lucy, nephew Jordan and niece Hilary.
