Mrs. Tucker, 75, of Locust Street, died at home, surrounded by her family, at 8:50 a.m. Monday (Feb. 5, 2007) after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Gary on Aug. 24, 1931, to the late Edith M. (Brewer) and Delmiro Picon Seara of Pontevedra, Spain. She married Raymon Z. Tucker on May 2, 1958, in Elkhart. He preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 1999.

Surviving is her son, Rick L. Howie of Vandalia, Mich.; two daughters, Terrie S. Bertrem and Christine (Abel) Orue, both of Elkhart. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn (Bill) Morton of Portage, Louise (Bob) Green of Valparaiso and Nancy (Jack) Woodworth of Burns Harbor; and one brother, Richard D. (Linda) Picon of Union.

Her twin sons, Daniel and Dennis Howie; daughter, Denise Howie; and a grandson, Raymon T. Bertrem, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Tucker managed several area apartment complexes and most recently was employed by Big Rock Management of the Woodlands Apartments. She was a graduate of Hobart High School and volunteered for several organizations, including Switchboard Concern, CAPS and Hospice of Elkhart.

Dorothy spent most of her free time ministering to the sick and elderly. She also enjoyed baking and leading the song ministry at her church.
