Born to Solomon and Eleanor Cordova in Redwing, Colorado, Dorothy was one of fourteen Cordova children.  There were seven boys and seven girls.  Dorothy grew up on her family ranch in Redwing, where she loved riding horses.

She completed school through the eighth grade and married Emiterio (Miter) Cardenas on June 20, 1953.  She was nineteen years old.  Together they lived in Fountain, Colorado where Miter worked on a ranch and their only son, Carl, was born.  They then moved home to Westcliffe, Colorado and worked on several ranches until the early 1970’s.  Dorothy lived most of her life in Colorado Springs, where she worked at Current Factory Outlet as a line operator for over 20 years.  Dorothy retired and returned home to Westcliffe in 1993.

In 2002, she moved to Cañon City, Colorado where she lived the rest of her life.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Carl (Lucinda) Cardenas; grandchildren, Blayke Cardenas, Carlan Cardenas; great-grandchildren, Trevor Cardenas, Jaycie Cardenas, Ashley Gillum; great-great-granddaughter, Kynzly Cardenas; sisters, Ida (Delane) Foley, Chris (Ray) Andrews, Mae (Jimmy) Roddy; brothers, Earnie Cordova, Tim Cordova, Marvin (Veronica) Cordova, Bob Cordova, Rudy (Debbie) Cordova; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ruby Malouff, Liz (Robert) Chacon, Mildred (Bill) Tedrow; brothers, Jerry Cordova and Floyd (Billie) Cordova.
