Dorothy Maynard, 90, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday evening, December 28, 2010 at Pleasant View in Ottawa where she had been a resident for 8 years this November. Dorothy was born May 13, 1920 in LaSalle to Bernard and Katherine (Hay) Kolowski.
She married Robert Leon Maynard on July 1, 1940. He passed away September 19, 1979. She worked at Westclox, Owens in Streator from 1950 to 1980 and Zemi Corp. Dorothy was an avid reader and genealogist. She was a member of the LaSalle County Genealogy Guild for 40 years. She traveled extensively thru her retirement years to Egypt, Jordan, Jerusalem and Poland, just to name a few.
She is survived by her three daughters, Lynette Crockett (Bill) Barnes of Ottawa, Diane (Robert) Smith of Ottawa and Lenore (Ronald) Pshak of Streator; Lynettes children, Brett (Anna) Crockett of Brisbane, California, Brad (Lynne) Crockett and Grant (Becky) Crockett both of LaSalle, Cristy (Christopher) Thompson of Ottawa: Dianes children, Lex (Jeanette) Hughes of Prescott, WI, Bobbi (Sheldon) Zulauf of Sterling, Joseph (Katherine) Hughes of Marseilles; Lenores children, Tracy (Jeff) Ritko of Streator and Leslie (Charles) Houch of Dwight; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Lois) Kolowski of Peru; 2 sister-in-laws, Jane Kolowski of Oglesby and Jeanette Kolowski of Peru. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; a sister, Gladys Mathieu; and two brothers, William and LeRoy Kolowski.
