Dorothy Mashue, age 100 of Midland, was received into her heavenly home on Friday April 14, 2017 surrounded by her children.
The daughter of the late Herbert and Lula (Rider) LaVier was born on August 28, 1916 in Homer Township. Following the death of her mother, Dorothy and her 9 siblings were raised by the Herbert and Catherine (Millhisler) LaVier. She married the love of her life Henry S. Mashue on August 15, 1937. Henry preceded her in death in January of 1969. Dorothy was a long time resident of Lee Township. With many family and friends she celebrated her 100th birthday this past August.
Dorothy attended the Floyd Church of God for most of her life. Leaving a legacy of unwavering faith in God was always her desire. She loved gardening, crafting, reading and baking. Her cookies were famous among her family of three generations and friends in the community. Dorothy loved to knit and crochet, making all her grandchildren and great grandchildren a special baby afghan to welcome them into the family.
Dorothy is survived by her six children, Kathy (Bob) VanValkenburg, Bonnie (Lee) MacKenzie, Brenda (Ray) Wagner, Mary (Ted) Wolfgang, Henry (Candee) Mashue, Dottie (Mike) Stone; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren with one more arriving later this year; 3 great great grandchildren; brothers, Richard LaVier and Russell (Barb) LaVier and many loved nieces and nephews.
