Dorothy Marie Zech, the daughter of Walter John and Minnie May (Van Der Velde) Frederick was born December 19, 1925 on a farm near Emmetsburg. She attended Freedom Township #4 grade school and graduated from Emmetsburg High School.
She was united in marriage with Joseph Dalton on January 21, 1945 in Emmetsburg, IA. They made their home in Emmetsburg until divorced. On March 21, 1962 Dorothy married Arnold E. Zech in Memphis, Tennessee. They made their home on a farm east of Mallard.
Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mallard, was the secretary of the UMW group, as well as the president of the Mallard Garden Club. She was a great lover of gardening and nature, especially birds. Dorothy died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Weismer House in Dallas, Texas. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Linda, Sandra, and Kim and her son Richard, along with grandchildren and great grandchildren and her sister, Florence.
