Dorothy Marie (Simoneau) Zakrzewski, 88, of Plainville, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at Plainville Health Care Center. May God now reunite her with her husband of 59 years, Peter F. Zakrzewski.
Dorothy was born in Unity, New Hampshire on August 2, 1920, the daughter of the late Ernest and Ann (Bailey) Simoneau. A resident of Plainville since 1995, she was a former resident of New Britain. Dorothy had an artistic passion and was talented at drawing and writing poetry, becoming a member of the local poetry group in her later years. She led a life of caring for others, through raising her family and pursuing a longtime career as a nurse’s aid. She was a social woman, who enjoyed surrounding herself with family and friends, who will be missed for her selflessness and kindhearted personality.
She leaves her sons, Peter Zakrzewski of Killingworth and Kenneth and his wife, Deborah of Bristol; her daughter-in-law, Jane Paszkowski; her sister, Helen Walczewski of New Britain; sisters-in-law, Sophie Bialobrzski, and Ann and Eve Bleau; her half-brother, Robert Sherman and his wife, Betty and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, one sister, and three half brothers.
