Dorothy Nickerson, 67, of Butler, Indiana, formerly of Grand Ridge, died on March 30, 2013 at Laurels Nursing Home in Butler, Indiana.
She was born March 26, 1946 in Ottawa to Stephen and Andres (Eikness) Sipula. She graduated from Ottawa Township High School in 1964. She married Doug Nickerson on June 15, 1968 in Seneca, Illinois. Dorothy Nickerson was a long-time employee of the LaSalle County Clerk of the Circuit Clerk’s office. She had been a member of the Sweet Adelines and the Home Extension of Grand Ridge.
She is survived by her husband, Doug; one son, Erick (Katrina) Nickerson; two grandchildren; Ian and Holly; three sisters, Rose (David) Claus of Naperville, Tina (Bob Sampson) Sipula of Bloomington, Marie (Kevin) Grant of Peoria; and two brothers, David (Tammy) Sipula and Paul Sipula both of Ottawa.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Edward Sipula and Stephen Sipula, Jr. Dorothy deeply loved children, won awards for her tasty pies and her favorite season was Christmas, which she kept in her heart all year long.
