Dorothy Marie (Powell) Brunk, was born April 6, 1917, in Lima, Ohio, to Samuel and Laura (Shenk) Powell. She was married for 64 years to Lawrence B. Brunk, who preceded her in death in 2003. Dorothy passed on to her heavenly reward at her home on December 24, 2014 at the age of 97. Her death followed an extended illness of several years during which time she was cared for by loving and faithful caregivers. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude and thanks to those special ladies. She is survived by her 5 children, Janet Louise (Tom) Ellis of Salem, Larry Burkhart (Sally) Brunk, of Salem, Karen Sue Brunk, of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Joseph Reuben (Ann) Brunk of Salem, and Nancy Carol Davis of Osprey, Florida; 8 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers, and by 2 children, Jewelle and Johnny who died in infany. Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother. She shared ministry, travel and business with her husband Lawrence. One of the highlights of ministry was the Brunk tent revival’s of the 1950’s. She was a loving, caring, godly lady who will be missed by her family and friends and leaves with us all the legacy of a virtuous woman who “has done good and not evil, all the days of her life.” Truly our loss is heavens gain.
