Dorothy Marie Archer Taylor, 91, of Clyde, died on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in Clyde.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Athens, Ohio on December 3, 1923 to the now deceased Clifford and Mildred (Perry) Powell.

She had attended school in Plains, Athens; Otsego and graduated from West Lafayette, Ohio. She then moved to Clyde, graduating from Fremont Beauty School in 1959.

She owned and operated the former Dot’s Beauty Shop in Clyde. Prior to this, she had worked at the Ohio Turnpike and Bellevue Lamp Plant.

“Dot” was a member of the First United Methodist Church; The Clyde Eagles; American Legion Auxiliary; a former member of the Green Hills and Mills Creek and Twin Lakes women’s leagues.

Survivors include three children, Patrick (Marie) Archer, Clyde; Michael ( Pam) Archer, Clyde; Grace (Sam) Baptisa, Bellevue. Eight grandchildren; Brian; Tracy and Ben Archer; Chad; Stacy Archer; Samantha; Courtney and Eddie Baptista; and step grandson, Aaron Owens and 12 great grandchildren along with 3 step great grandchildren and one great-great also survive. Two brothers, William Powell, Clyde and Thomas Powell, Bakersville, Ohio and sister – in-law, Lois Powell and brother – in-law, Russ Weidger, both of W. Lafayette, Ohio survive as well.

Dot was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Archer, whom she married January 17, 1945. He died on April 24, 1982. She married Cecil Taylor in 1989, he preceded her in 1998. Seven siblings, Ernest, Jasper, James; and Joe Powell, Ruth Archer, Donna Weidger and Margaret Thompson are also deceased.
