Dorothy Mae “Dottie” Buttry Jenkins, 82, Anderson, was called home on Friday, August 5, 2011 after a lengthly illness.

She was born June 5, 1929 in Chester, South Carolina, to the late Walter and Ida Buttry. Dottie was raised by her grandmother. She retired from Brookside in 1991 after 25 years. Dottie is survived by her husband, Ezekiel “Tom” Jenkins whom she married on April 10, 1993; two sons, David Elana Johnson of Ingalls and Tim Johnson of Fortville; one daughter, Robin Phillip McDaniel of Lapel; three step-daughters, Debra Turner of Elizabethton, Tennessee, Sandy James Alexander and Kimberly Dean Parris all of Anderson; one step-son, David Jenkins of Anderson; six grandchildren, Tiffany Johnson, Josh McDaniel, Adam McDaniel, Amber McDaniel, Cortney Michael and Duane Johnson; 16 step-grandchildren, Lisa Chismar, Gary Turner, Robby Jackie Alexander, Andy Alexander, Rachel Alexander, Jimmy Carol Alexander of The Colony, Texas, Nichole Joe Marshall, Ronald Ronna Keffer III, Dillon Parris, Avary Parris, Bradley Shelia Bever, Michelle Toby Sheets, Curtis Jenkins of El Paso, Texas, Amanda Jenkins, Thomas Jenkins and David “DJ” Jenkins of Monticello, Kentucky; 13 great grandchildren; 22 step great grandchildren; one step great-great grandson; and special friends, Abby Jewell and Shirley Hall. Dot’s family would like a special thanks to Heartland Hospice and a special thanks to nurse Penny Jarrett.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Bill Johnson; son, Keith Johnson; daughter, Vonda Johnson; great granddaughter, Skye Johnson; step-daughter, Donna Whitehead; step-granddaughter, Suzie Turner Banta and step-great granddaughter, Nevaeh Jenkins.
