Dorothy Mae (Ackermann) Burge, 88 of Hoffman, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.She was born March 29, 1928 in Sandoval, daughter of Alec Ackermann and Ruby (Sandy) Ackermann.
She married Robert Burge on August 5, 1947 at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Centralia and he preceded her in death on November 8, 1968.Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Judith G. Carpenter of Centralia; three brothers and a sister: Michael Q. Anderson and wife Patricia of Albuquerque, NM, Gregory A. Anderson and wife Jane of Albuquerque, NM, and Karl Anderson of Fence Lake, NM, Debbie Healy of Cedarcrest, NM and their mother, Ann Anderson of Albuquerque, NM; niece, Debbie Dunn of Granite City, and other nieces, nephews, and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law: John Michael Carpenter, and a brother:
Edward Ackermann.Dorothy attended the University of Nebraska and was a graduate of Brown’s Business college. She worked at Valley Steel then St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for 37 years until she retired. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Centralia. She enjoyed quilting, tailoring and oil painting. Dorothy’s greatest enjoyment was traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
