Dorothy Mae (Albitre) Williams, 87, of Goshen, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Elkhart General Hospital.

A California native, she was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Bakersfield, to the late Remick Obispo and Dorothy Helen (Bertrand) Albitre.

Surviving is her children, Carolyn (Garry) Hoffman of Goshen, Robin (Mitchell) Woessner of Bakersfield and Ross (Carol) Williams of Colvert, Michigan; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy (Aaron) Caldwell of Woody, California.

In addition to her parents, two brothers Ernest and Dan Albitre preceded her in death.

Dorothy was a 1947 graduate of Bakersfield High School and was raised on cattle ranch in Woody.

She worked over the years as a waitress at truck stops, the last being the TA Truck Stop in Sawyer, Michigan, which she worked at well into her 80s.

She had her own 18-wheeler at one time and enjoyed gardening and pulling weeds.

She attended Crossroads Community Church in Goshen, with her daughter.

Dorothy helped with the church’s Bethlehem Live nativity, during which she served cookies and hot chocolate.
