Dorothy Marlys (Bautz) Ubinger, age 91, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Arborwood Court in Wisconsin Rapids.

Dorothy was born April 15, 1931 in the town of Sigel, Wood County, WI to the late George G. and Lillian E. (Steuck) Bautz.  She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids on May 10, 1931.  Dorothy in younger years was employed at Riverview Hospital and later at Family Heritage Nursing Home until her retirement.

She was united in marriage to LaVerne Ubinger on June 30, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in the town of Sigel, Wood County.  LaVerne passed away on February 13, 1996.

Dorothy was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids.  She liked traveling in younger years, canning, sewing, camping with family, and painting crafts.

Those thankful for sharing the blessings of Dorothy’s life include one daughter, Marla (Mark) Maxwell, son Lonne (Amy) Ubinger, and son-in-law Lance Nieman all of Wisconsin Rapids; daughter-in-law Lorna Ubinger of Nekoosa; seven grandchildren: Travis (Stacy) Ubinger, Tyler Ubinger, Kaylan (Barrett) Crowther, Tara (Ray) Poteat, Trica Nieman, Riley Ubinger, and Lindsey Ubinger; and eight great-grandchildren.  She is further survived by one sister, Georgene (Ronald) Provost; brothers-in-law Larry Ubinger and Harvey Pierce; sisters-in-law Linda Ubinger, Nancy Ubinger, and JoAnn (Eugene) Keen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father George Hetzel; three sisters: Shirley Lee, Julianne Magee, and Naomi Pierce; son Greg Ubinger; daughter Renee Nieman; mother and father-in-law Anna (Danne) Ubinger; and many brothers and sisters-in-law too numerous to mention.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Arborview Court for their loving care and enduring Dorothy’s fiery spirit; and also, the staff of Heartland/Promedica Hospice for their loving care.
