Dorothy M. Mills, 88, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.

She was born September 24, 1930, in New Salem, the daughter of Floyd W. and Ruby Norton Moore. She married Byron E. Mills on June 5, 1954, in Baylis, and he preceded her in death on August 30, 1985.

She is survived by four daughters and one son, Donna (Bill) Robson of St. Peters, MO, Bradley (Jan) Mills of Jacksonville, Marian (Joe) Palumbo of Springfield, Susan (Gary) Knapp of Jacksonville, and Betty Ingram of Athens; eleven grandchildren, April (Matt) Courty, Clint (Shannon) Robson, Melanie Mills, Amy (Travis) Pons, Jennifer Palumbo, Antonette (Kurtis Klay) Palumbo, Michelle (Nathan) Roschè, Sarah (Jason) Dean, Addie Ingram, Bryce Ingram, and Cody Ingram; three great grandchildren, Alex Courty, Gavin Robson, and Sloane Robson; one brother, Dale (Catherine) Moore of Baylis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons-in-law, Van Ingram and Mark Adams; and sister-in-law and her husband, Elizabeth and W.W. “Blackie” Tribble.

Mrs. Mills was a 1948 graduate of Pittsfield High School and then attended Brown’s Business College in Jacksonville. After marriage, she was a stay-at-home mother until her children were of school age. She then began work at Hertzberg New Method, retiring in 1995. She was a longtime member of Central Christian Church, where she was Past-President of the Christian Womens Fellowship and an Elder Emeritus. Dorothy was also Past-President of ABWA, a 50 year member of Order of the Eastern Star, and volunteered at Jacksonville Food Bank and Heritage Health Gift Shop. She was a prolific card player, and she was quite the seamstress. Dorothy also served as a leader of both the Girls Scouts and 4-H. She enjoyed being involved with any activities her family was involved with.
