Dorothy Linares, 98, of Jackson, NJ, died Friday, August 15, 2014 at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood, NJ. Born in Wanaque, NJ, she lived in Riverdale, NJ before moving to Jackson in 1990. Dorothy graduated from Butler High School, Butler, NJ and would go on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1957 and Master’s Degree in 1964 in Language Arts and Special Education from Paterson State College.
She was one of the first Learning Disability Teacher Consultants in New Jersey, working in the education field for 22 years. She was a member of the Jackson Baptist Church and served on the various committees of the local, county and state PTA for many years. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Robert, in 1989 and a great grandson, Brendan.
She is survived by her children and their spouses Robert & Martha Linares of Wellfleet, Mass., Ronald Linares of Pompano Beach, FL, Judy McLoughlin-Rykiel & Dr. Ron Rykiel of Jackson, NJ, 11 grandchildren Denise, Hilerie, Bryant, David, Alicia, Ronald, Arthur, Neal, Eric, Todd & Dawn, 11 great grandchildren Cameron, Zachary, Charlotte, Olivia, Edward, Anna, Chloe, Krista, Savannah, Brian & Kiera.
